Privacy Policy

The short version

We collect an email address if you ask us to send you something, and the contents of a form if you choose to send us one. We do not run advertising, we do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not build profiles about visitors. There is currently no analytics or tracking script of any kind on this site.

Who we are

The I AM AWAKE Foundation (“AWAKE”, “we”, “us”) is a nonprofit foundation based in Crescent Beach, British Columbia, Canada, providing free public education in conscious living, creation, and relationship. AWAKE is a nonprofit but is not a registered charity.

What we collect, and when

We only receive personal information that you type in and submit. Nothing on this site collects personal information passively.

Newsletter and course sign-up

If you subscribe to the newsletter, or start the free entry course, we collect your email address. The entry course is delivered as a sequence of emails, so an address is the only thing required to take it. There is no account, no password, and no payment step.

Contact form

If you send a message through the contact page, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.

Volunteer form

If you apply to volunteer, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), stated availability, and the content of your message.

Donations

Donations are processed entirely by PayPal. Your card or bank details are entered on PayPal’s systems and are never transmitted to, or stored by, this site. We receive only what PayPal reports to us about a completed donation, such as the donor name and amount.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
• We do not serve advertising, affiliate links, or sponsored placements on this site.
• We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles about visitors.
• We do not currently run any analytics, tracking pixel, or session-recording tool. If that changes, this policy will be updated before such a tool is added.
• We do not require an account, and we do not ask for information we have no use for.

Third parties that process data for us

This site has no server-side backend of its own. Forms and payments are handled by external providers, and some content is embedded from external services. Each has its own privacy policy, which governs the data it holds.

Because these providers operate internationally, information you submit may be processed outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to that country’s laws.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.

It stores exactly one value in your browser’s local storage: a key named awake-theme, remembering whether you chose light or dark mode. It holds only the word “light” or “dark”, never an identifier, it never leaves your device, and it is not readable by us. Clearing your site data removes it, and the site will simply follow your operating system’s appearance setting again.

Embedded third-party content (the events calendar and lecture videos) may set its own cookies once loaded. That is governed by those providers’ policies. Video embeds use YouTube’s no-cookie domain and load only after you actively click to play.

How long we keep things

• Newsletter and course subscriptions: until you unsubscribe. Every email we send carries a working unsubscribe link.
• Form submissions: kept while relevant to the conversation or the volunteer relationship, then deleted on request.
• Donation records: retained as long as required for financial record-keeping.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you may:

• ask what personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct it if it is wrong;
• ask us to delete it;
• withdraw consent, including unsubscribing at any time;
• complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Email info@iamawakefoundation.com and we will respond within a reasonable period. There is no charge for making a request.

Children

This site and its teaching are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS. Form and payment handling rely on the providers listed above and their own security measures. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with an updated date. Where a change materially affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will say so in the newsletter.
